State vineyards around the jewel in the crown is our Saint -- estate vineyard which is located in Saint Helena about a thousand feet above the town. And that is after -- he gives us this truth that is just optimal brightness. And it makes beautiful line.
Beautiful -- some. The winery has always been on the leading edge of technology when it from the first however is -- told today when we walk through. The stainless steel room where. Used to be there was these big 2000 that are bigger cylinder -- stainless steel takes things have changed a little bit. News tells about the gap.
Well we did we redid some of the facilities here about five years ago and I would bots 32 brand new -- for managers which are very very precise in managing. And before going to get that from answer we have purchased a lot of new equipment for sorting so we are sorting. That was then gravity feed so we don't break them up during -- and beat up the fruit the gravity feed it into the top of these for manners so the idea is. The -- kind of go to the spot if you will from other hand picked -- vineyard their multiple sort. Gravity fed in these for manners were trying to be. His gentle as we can to get these soft beautiful expressive lines up.
In an you know I anybody has come out to one country look they've they they're probably -- with the were bugler press these big. Big -- in most is big cylindrical stainless steel press with a Blatter and side. You guys have. Kind of back to the future back to the past duke -- press felt about that that.
Sets of his equipment have for a couple years we're very proud of it's is the same concept is as an old wind screw them screw it down and press on the must to squeeze on the line. Well this just as it's. Automatically we dial any amount of pressure. In -- very precise in terms of pressure so we can. Kind of we're not getting too much extracts in terms of hand and in color exchanges he would get it just right. So we wanna make a Big Ten cabernet we can do it like that if we wanna make a lighter more elegant you know we can do that as well.

Let's let's talk about some of them. Some of the -- you have access to -- in a little bit about the Napa Valley in general you know everybody knows -- Napa as the big name place where one come from and and in June in our country and it and rightly so it is. It has so many different micro climates in different soil types and different regions you are right here in the heart of it gives your thoughts on. On growing up in the one business and make you won here in Napa.
Yet it has said that in Napa Napa house. Phenomenal. Phenomenal radio both from its soil types micro climates and we can you know it it's it's unique I think in the world that it in in the world -- have weakened to make everything from Chardonnay pinot. On one end the rally to two. Cabernet and and and you know that it in the upper into the valley and really do a phenomenal job and it's not because. There's nothing to do with Swiss -- for save past -- back. -- that the geology to geography. Where we are in proximity to that and a Pacific Ocean in the basin. The different influences and and things that happened. With our soils in a million years ago to kind of create this this diverse array of so soils. And so the network worked really blessed to be here then. And I our challenge is winemakers and then vineyard and winery owners is this really. Figure out where we can do the best. In this in this area you know going forward -- it's been a huge change in the last forty years as far as. Your recent think that we euros Chardonnay cabernet -- side by side and then we realize that maybe. Cabernet is much better suited to up now they were little warmer Chardonnay -- she's got some you know does really well south where. This is a little cooler and man to see these changes over you know over couple decades them. It's been really -- into an -- we're kind of in a place where. We're doing I think a really good job. You know across across the board.
Units that it's that history in that learning that takes place that really when you think about it in the big scheme of one making worldwide in historically -- It's happened at a fairly short period of time. And impact I'm fond of telling people whether it's folks in my division one classes -- there -- any idea we have events there's never been a better time to be a -- consumer. Not only because of what we make here which leads the world. But because of the global one market there's never been a better time where folks are making bride to be correct high quality ones without fault. I think it's is just amazing and and your good part of that stuff.
Thanks I think. I think it also goes you know discount him and with that processor the Renaissance food to -- into people's appreciation of food and wine and how those things complement each other and and I think winemakers recognizing that that it's not all about them and there you go and and and now we're trying to it to make products that that that pair well with food you know especially for the bulk of what. We've put that in this true and it it is it's so much more than just one or just food it's that combination and -- enthusiasm about them. Let's talk about the space. In this building that has so much history and Chris talk about the size and then in their church and your pre. As we progress and it caused some things and I think really have -- huge dividend in every sense of the word that. We've we've started making some white ones and the storm label Dunn and Carter tells about the new facility and and -- what that's meant for you is the head of the one making it.
Two things it we have. Bill owners Marysville where were committed -- to both -- on are committed both storm on and merry go and in 2006 we we designed built winery in in coroner asked what was karma facility. And at facilities really focused on making all of our storm outlines. To we maker Chardonnay some of long cab. Below and actually this you're gonna start with the storm Tokyo that facility. And dislocated and in kind of let's say that the eastern end of -- is right on in the NAFTA side of -- us. Beautiful state of the art facility it's got great flexibility. We can make everything from small lot you know small lots of Chardonnay pinot too. It's two you know a little bit larger. For us lots. But Chardonnay and and cabin and and do it all really well and and and with a high degree of detail and end. So there there is a huge investment from Maryville in this and it a lot of people might. -- just outsource the -- make -- sign of things to focus the attention on on this golf on the marketing side of things Mary goes to a community. Being a quality producer long term so I think debt. That I guess that that you know speaks at that we have two facilities -- poll. World class. Facilities for for production and that really the heart of what we're doing is we are. We are growing fruit where they were making wine and tried to do that so consistently and to the highest highest level of all we -- your career and we're looking. We're looking you know decades out right Republicans may not look good for mark so yeah. Well I look for where we come -- one story and see abolish storm and Guerrero Kelly who would need to be right if we didn't mention Graham let's talk about. You're your partner and one making your it doesn't look grim grim is our winemaker for with with very -- is actually. Experts who we were very team oriented when he gets out. Grams or winemaker of saline and offensively we make are we focus our attention on merry go Bordeaux reds that are living from. Profile at the very high end. All the way through the Maryville Bordeaux red. -- so our cabs -- kept Bronx all the small little club winds we make. But then beyond that -- part of our larger winemaking. Team and that's -- we make a strong winds in Munich to Maryville Chardonnay is the miracle. Graham and and and I. And art my sister winemaker Michael that that's -- all work together as winemaking team. In crafting crafting the wines -- together these all the wires together we talk about it we work through things. Talk about everything from did years all the way through the winemaking process and really the goal is is you know we're we wanna be one we think you know more ideas you are are better. And and then if we have -- let's say disagreements for real difference of opinions -- is we've worked through we talk together we work through it week week. Under consensus as far as you know what we think should be done.
It seems to be working well for you. You guys don't make lines to get ratings. And as a consumer I don't buy wines just based on ratings. But we both know it never hurts. I don't think anybody's head as good of -- of ratings for the last several years as Mary -- and as huge bump. He would be getting mine salinity you know in the high eighties and low ninety's. A lot of wine makers do that last couple years ago has been bounced the park. With the mid ninety's and higher. It's got to be a real pleasure for you and attribute to that whole teamwork process and the whole collective aspect of what -- Rose Harmon does. And really what we're trying to do with with us -- Chardonnay is to really.
