Positive gross domestic product readings and other mildly hopeful signs are masking an ugly truth.

The United States economy is in a 1930s. Style depression. The -- chef economist David Rosenberg said today.

Writing in his daily briefing to investors Rosenberg had the Great Depression also had its high points. With a series of positive gross domestic product reports and shops stock market great gains. But then -- now those signs of recovery were unsustainable. And only provided a false sense of stability Rosenberg. He calls current economic conditions a depression and not just some garden variety recession. He notes that any good news both during the initial 1929 to 33 recession. And the one that began in 2008. Triggered euphoric. Responses. He says such as human nature and nobody can be blamed for trying to be optimistic however in a money management business we have a fiduciary duty. To be as realistic as possible. About the outlook for the economy and the market at all times he's. In 1929. To 33 recession soft six quarterly bounces. In GDP. With an average gain of 8%. Sending the stock market too late 50% rally in early 1930 as investors thought the worst had passed.

It was a false promise Rosenberg and guess what.

He as we -- may well be reliving history here if you're keeping score. We've recorded for quarterly advances in real GDP and the average is only 3% not 8%.

Rosenberg's warning comes as a slew of major analysts. Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan among them have latched GDP projections for 2010. Total one point 522%. Range. How's that for a reality check Rosenberg says it's not too late I'm going to shift course and few of state long on this market.

The value your home is meaningless. Money becomes meaningless. Because everything loses value or hyperinflation -- other economists telling us about which means. While the dollar while the validate your money will be worthless and your pension everything else it has the opposite effect which is. Prices go through the roof and the value of the dollar goes down. These are the laws of economics. You can't change them by passing. Legislation. You can't change them with executive orders you can't change them by. --

They are what they are. And we conservatives recognize in the we conservatives embraced that we conservatives -- looks like them and a positive way. And growth jobs and opportunities for every.
