We will begin the questions now and each of the question you have two minutes to answer the question and we go again. In a right in and -- been determined if by the draw Jim you get to have the first question -- hope you're ready to go after that that opening remark every don't. The BP deep water horizon oil ringing explosion occurred nearly two months ago. Since that explosion estimates have been that 40000 to 100000 barrels of oil per day are leaking into the gulf oil is now washing of the beaches. Devastating to tourism industries of gulf -- states in addition to already choking off the -- we go to commercial fisherman. What do you think the role of government should be in the BP oil incidence Jim.

The role of government and what should that happen right away is. The government our government which they didn't do. Should have accepted help from so countries around the world Hoover who are willing to step up to the plate and help us cap that oil well our administration. Did nothing. Four basically a month over month. They just -- and it's government's role that needs to be a modicum oval oversight. But the problem here is again that we're not enforcing our laws in this country. We're not doing the things that we say we're going to do and that's what led primarily to use the because. The rules in place. Were. For the most part giving DP the authority to do whatever they wanted to. And they did so much. And and that's what that's how that ended up being but there's there's the -- government of limited government which we don't have right now should be a small oversight to make sure. They are doing what they're saying they're going to do.

All right thanks Jim and -- you get to question next again what do you think the role of government should be in the BP oil incidents. Well the -- governor Percival should have been to follow the regulations on the books. -- this -- for three generations now. I do have a full understanding of the multiple things went wrong. First ball minerals services. Which is now -- of course called ocean energy services as you Obama administration since they've failed so miserably. I simply change the name is supposed to oversee these platforms. On those platforms are supposed to -- thousands of documents. That are intended for different situations it could may and had taken place is we all know. First of all the Obama administration should have done inspections required. -- corrective measures that were required and they failed to do all of the above. Basically what they'd let this situation take place BP did shoddy workmanship Halliburton was -- which was poorly done. So it was a group of individuals are trying to make shortcuts is to millions and millions and millions of dollars. For the profit of the company so once again the government should have stepped in and done their role as given. And they did not do so this most likely could have been prevented with proper. Management from the government.

Okay and take you into reminder these questions have been provided. From up members of the chamber of commerce. Question. Goes to now Mike Pompeo and Mike again what do you think the role of government should be in the BP oil incident.

We we certainly have the -- a tragic accident and industrial accident of enormous scale and it's not much talked about we've forgotten that there were lives lost on the platform and then you talked about much. It is absolutely the case that the folks who did wrong need to be held accountable make paper that -- that they did wrong in their ears. But we have to be really careful. When government tries to protect us against everything it -- enormous harm. There were enormous regulatory. Systems that employees to handle -- deep water drilling. There are enormous regulatory systems to handle industrial activity all over the court district of Kansas. We've got another example government tell -- it's an ability to execute the regulatory system that was in place. Certainly is a component of the accident that -- But make no mistake about. I've heard folks advocates for another set of regulations. I've heard folks say that we should -- all deep water offshore drilling or all offshore drilling or all drilling. That's written a ridiculous response. Two to an accident that is very severe. There are dozens and hundreds of deep water wells that have been operating for years and most of those wells have wonderful safety records. And so we all have to be really careful. When accidents -- they need to be addressed and those responsible held accountable. But national policy. In terms of an American energy policy American energy right here in America for Americans. Needs to take into account safety and risk. But needs to make sure -- afford -- a whole opportunity. To bring that energy here and not bring it in all the attendant risks. When we bring in oil from the Middle East as well we can't forget those risks while we're staring at one that's right front office and saw my. My view is we need to be really careful as the federal government that we don't create a policy that inflict more damage on folks in. In the gulf region than than out already terrible accident has done.

Next a page rush then again page the question is what do you think the role of government should be in the BP oil and.

Wealthy government. The disasters. And -- We've had oil spills were different. Wired. Its base now. The the government's role in its activities -- Yeah. -- and it's been on top. Where what was going. And then. Make teachers these rules and regulations aren't. Being forced it. And as soon as this activity is still record issued in. Boots on the ground so just be. Providing oversight and -- team which then you changed. With industry BP. To get the -- techno technological a life. There at the site to provide others. And our government needs to use V to increase awareness and agility. Intently. This type of issues as well. In the natural disasters -- those answers. Says. Not an unsolvable problem there's a lot of engineers who would love to have an opportunity to work and it is something it's never been done before it's all. Far and it's resolving these issues but he is thoughtful. And as for the government. Activity. It should -- and as CEO of the company -- Ian and really to -- What was going and providing oversight and making -- that things were accomplished in. -- Proper manner.

I think they think they. Now dean showed or scheme what do you think the role of government should be in the BP oil incidents.

Would you would think that the government would have learned from Katrina. That we need fast response. And that's not what the government gave the people on the golf. We need fast response aunts and develop plans so that we will be able to. Help when asked help governors immediately. Goes to the scene. And help them. With whatever they meet with health or safety for people. For rescuing people and then for cleaning up and trying to get this oil self contained. It's getting worse and -- he has tried many things that have not worked. And the government act has not been they've been trying to help too but I just can't not. Been successful either. We need to make sure that these plans are really backup plans. And that they are they are good plans that they will work. Because all of that oil companies have the same backup plan. And this one didn't work maybe because of shoddy workmanship or -- drilling or whenever that. The cause is. Because of lack of regulations because of cozy relationships. With the regulators that they regulate the regular let's say like sorry. The people who are regulated. And but the federal government has to be able to have plans to step and fast and try to. Solve the problem rather than I am making it worse.

I would go to question number two now and we start this time around with -- Hartman and the question is. What is your opinion of the role of the consumer financial protection agency. Repeat the question please what is your opinion of the role of the consumer financial protection agency. The consumer protects it.

Issues is what it says what does he implies it is there to protect the consumer. That is different types of fraud over price you price fixing. Eccentric. The agency has has been formed. And is and other regulatory. Level of government. The overall view of the overall protection is good but my concern is sometimes. And usually government becoming ever bigger. Ever increasing their authority at some point they go off track. So the the the issue here is good. But you have to keep the eye on the ball and make sure that George for the protection of the services it provides value. To your everyday lives. All right Mike Pompeo you get to question next what is your opinion of the role of the consumer financial protection agency.

My views it should have almost no role. I have a very different -- mr. -- on this. Lou there's bankers in the room today there's financial people in the room today you don't need the federal government telling you how to. Construct a mortgage you don't need a federal government telling you set up below what these to charge you can't charge. These these are the quintessential decision to small businesses small government and consumers to make. To make for themselves but to think that the federal agency has hope or prayer of establishing. A set of policies. That will be one size fits all for consumers and it won't drive up costs the cost of a mortgage the cost of alone for a car. The -- the cost for every consumer product that that we all use every day. Is ludicrous and yet the federal government says hey we're gonna protect the consumer but they forget the enormous burden they place. The federal government has a role. Its role is to disclose to make sure that these things are properly disclosed transparency makes sense. But when you set up an agency. That is going to prevent -- preclude banks from making good loans to good customers on good terms agreed by all. You've got exactly the kind of federal government that I'm running for congress to put back in its place.

All right pages freshman you have the question now what is your opinion of the role of the consumer financial protection agency.

I believe that the role is to provide oversight. For businesses to -- to make sure it's there. Conducting themselves in an ethical manner. To not be over burdensome to businesses. To not to. In close. And do. Legislation or laws on businesses. To enable them empower them to get -- job done. But yet to make pictures that they are doing so in an ethical and honest manner. To benefit. The American.

And he showed -- the question again what is your opinion of the role of the consumer financial protection agency.

Well first of all that we know that in Kansas everybody is on us. And tries to run their business and honest manner and to help people and so we probably don't need this in Kansas bet. We have to remember what the problem lies and greedy brokers. Took. Took retirement some people lost their retirements. There were people that they trust and and they were. Gone they -- within the wrong path and they lost their money. And so many times when it and things like this happens there Hughes. Hughes. Problems and catastrophes to people are two disasters or whatever we overreact. But in this case. Patent all of us are trying to save for retirement and I believe that -- consumer financial protection agency will help. Will help the consumer. To be able to. I'm trying to find out what. That correct and up appropriately honest and a way of doing business this is here and banks or or in brokers are trying to do. To. Have their investments protected. And that have this can be a good thing it will help transparency. And help consumers. Try to plan for their retirement. Or for their business needs.

And now Jim Anderson you get to question finally what is your opinion of the role of the consumer financial protection agency. More big government basically it's and other government boondoggle. The consumer financial protection agency. Another arm of the ladies and gentlemen huge government is to become out of control government. Consumers. -- to start to become more responsible for themselves. More accountable to themselves. I don't mind. A modicum again a small amount of boulders. In in in that world but it's another way for more rules. More regulation on corporations. So that hire fewer people. It's another way to tax them. And it's just more the big government but the corporations. Run the corporations. Let them do business but the higher the jobs let them bring the people in the corporations. And keep the government.

All right question number three and this time we begin with Mike Pompeo. Polls show. The Americans and especially kansans overwhelmingly do not support the recently passed federal health care act however. Americans also see the need for drastic reform of health care both in terms of cost containment and accessibility. The question what is your plan for the American health care system and do you think congress should be exempt.

No. I don't I don't think congress should be exactly we ought to play under the same rules that that everyone doesn't there's health care plan good enough for America. Right good enough for congress but it but in the first entrance I'm I'm not -- the federal government has much parole. In dictating. Health care policy and in the way that it didn't make Obama plan now Obama law. I wouldn't work very hard to repeal the current the current law that we have a place. And if we can't accomplish that. I'm which will be eight in tall mountain the liberal progressive worked sixty years. For the holy Grail of universal health care and it moved an awfully long way toward that with this law. I've lived in the smaller run a couple of small businesses here in Kansas in the worst day every year there aerospace and an international. Is when your health care -- shows up -- the doors as I have your premiums for next year. Anyone take vacation for a decade. So they can come to your door -- your premiums are way up costs the problem. And this plan what the wrong direction. Premiums in Kansas will go up between 26 and 30% over the course of the next three years under this law. You'll make it more and more difficult for people to grow their businesses and add jobs here in south central Kansas and so we we did the wrong thing look at what could we have done. The system before wasn't better. But let's remember too we didn't however free market system before Obama carries the federal government was paying between third -- apple ball. Health care costs even before this plant. We've got to do some simple things to attack cost that's always competition. So state insurance. Can be purchased all across the country there's no reason not to do that. There's lots of room to decrease costs through tort reform. And if we would put competition back in place where medical providers medical device manufacturers pharmaceutical companies and insurers all have to compete. And consumers have a choice and could see price at the point of decision. Our costs would go down we have health care system that was much more affordable for every single American.

All right to -- page rush then you have the question now what is your plan for the American health care system and do you think congress should be exempt.

No I do not believe that congress should be soon. And NC representative for the fourth district and US congress. My plan for health care system and would be to take good long hard look at and the -- like it or repeal. -- it. I believe that it is and whenever the vote was taken. Gallup poll shows that there were 49%. Of the American adults were against it 40% before it. -- 11%. Had no opinion that is too close. Of an opinion people. Magnitude. Of people against it very. Too close for congress -- do not believe it should have been. I believe that. For leniency ramifications. From the passage of that bill and that a lot of our businesses authority. I had to do right down. He. Impacts from that bill on them and that is being passed directly as taxable income. To the employee so why. Wild. That businesses are providing their employees with a greater amount of money for the health care. It is considered it will be considered as taxable income that the employees are gonna have to pay taxes. So. I am very disappointed in congress in passing. And I just. And not for all things.

he showed -- if you get the question now you're playing for the American health care system and do you think congress should be exempt.

Congress should not be exempt. And that plan. That we have to remember that there were 47 million people without insurance and costs are rising cost of rice today costs will rise tomorrow we do nothing. However the planned. Costs. I believe the spirit of America and it is it has been that great division. This country it is -- it remembered the town hall meetings in the -- people are worried that they won't have concerns that don't have there. Insurance benefits taken away. And so if there are two things -- life but I believe that this and its businesses are going to see increase costs and that. They're very worried about whether they'll even be able to survive with the changes that. Health care plan and so what we need to do is change the parts. That will ensure. Rising costs for business and to make sure that these costs go down that's the reason we have. We want to have a plan is so that we can contain the costs. And have been the curve so that they will not bankrupt the community I do like the preexisting condition part though. We all have preexisting conditions many of us. And we will be able to get insurance. If we changed jobs because of the pre existing insurance. And young people can be in that pool can be an. Insured by their parent on their parents' policies by Arab. After they graduate from college expect there's a lot of work that needs to be done with this to make sure that we cut the costs and the -- Instead of having escalating costs continue.

I -- Jim Anderson again the question what is your plan for the American health care system and do you think congress should be exempt. I don't think congress. Should be exams and we need to repeal it. As quickly as possible it's not the government's job to provide health care. It's corporation's job to provide -- scary individual's job to provide health care there's a lot of things we can do. The fuel reformed system one missed work for. So doctors don't have to practice defensiveness. Let's go across state lines forcing us to sure it can't. Make the plants portable. I'll let the free market drive the product -- better product affordable price as far as existing conditions go. You know you might have a policy it'll be a little bit more money for an existing condition but. Again the reason word obsolete browsers because -- the government has -- those business again. Let the free market dictate that drive the product you'll a lot of products out there at a very good price.

We cut the military now what is your plan for the American health care system. And do you think congress should be exempt. First well.

Excuse me congress should not be exempt. And would say that there's many many other benefits congress receives all solution he. Taken away from because they're -- is full benefits -- not receive. Libby says that the first thing congress should do. The 2011 is repeal. The health care bill of Obama Pelosi totally. Not revamp -- not to -- to totally repeal it. Is officer and often sad but true. We need tort reform the defensive medicine doctors -- around us we need portability. We need accessibility. That's are free competition free enterprise has served this country well. For several hundred years and will serve us well when it comes to health care. Canada has done what I consider socialized. Medicine which is no more than what the Obama health care really boils down to. And Canada you're assigned to his owner district. And his failed miserably you will wait weeks and weeks to wait for a very minor procedure you might even wait one or two weeks were broken arm. It does not work with the government assigns you health care that they think you'd deserve. We need to get to the point in this position all the companies that I know. I pay for 75 to 100%. Of my employees health care. In what is going to happen in the present system is they are going to be taxed. Not -- high income people. All people are gonna be taxed because it is going to be added on there W -- they are going to be receiving credit for 145060. 181000. Dollars worth -- health insurance it's gonna go on there -- And their incomes to increase significantly. And therefore they're gonna go to the next -- In small businesses are going to be hurt millions and millions of jobs from short term in the near term will be lost and our economy.

Right the next question. Will go to page freshmen and here is the question the national debt is over thirteen trillion dollars. The budget deficit for this fiscal year's estimated to be one point 27 trillion. Medicare and Social Security are headed down the unsustainable paths and Americans are concerned about the negative impact. Of letting the bush tax cuts expire. What is your plan for addressing deficit and debt while keeping taxes low enough to allow for economic growth page.

There's no doubt. The other. Downward spiral of our -- its concerns. And my plan would be to do take it. Current government waited. All of the other businesses. United States. Going to lean mean -- Federal government is the only thing. And uses and probably. Saved almost unequivocally. Is not efficient. We need to do look better government agencies and leaned down. And then -- and -- Slim down our government the agencies and make sure that they're operating effectively. And productively. You bursting out. To encourage. Get this thing would be to look at the laws that are on the books make sure that they are being adhered to correctly. And take action in that regard is that this required. The editing would be to. As far as reducing our idea is to work with -- Congressional. Representatives. To start balancing the budget. Quit where we. Cuts. Her. Taxable. Here bringing in this car taxes. -- there. Government and there is seen. We. Definitely need to look at such scary. Here. It we need start. Determining where we can start using bad. Institute of long term plan. As far as how we're going to handle. The and I mean. Retiring generation in the future as well -- ID. The ability for our young people to be able to retire this. And -- income.

All right. Time is up -- sure the question is what is your plan for addressing deficit and debt while keeping taxes low enough to allow for economic growth.

Thank you Steve I have a plan for. National. Economic development. And economic plan principles. And one of the things and I believe we need to do is have a balanced budget amendment. Eight years ago well before this act came into office we had a balanced budget. And then for a number of reasons spending that came out of control and we have to. Stop Matt's family -- so we need a balanced budget amendment. There is a bipartisan commission to. To address deficit reduction that it is Lillian paper tiger and we need to having and I both Republicans and Democrats and not just. Not just. Politicians that number. Experts in the different fields to work together to make recommendations about how to. Decrease the deficit. We're also going to have to stop stupidity at the national park at the national level. We have cut back at the state level states are having it. Difficult time. Balancing their budgets that we did it. And the federal the federal government is going to have to start -- two. 5% across the board. If possible we have to keep the tax cuts that bush did instigate. Because they will they would be devastating for instance if they went back. There's another one the the unemployment. Can access the state level we have to work for states work with states to make sure that states to increase their taxes too and I would. Support. Waving that sense that surcharge that state that businesses are gonna have to pay for unemployment insurance. Fans that the states have. Had Barak and that would be one of the first things that I went to those that businesses will not have to have that surcharge. To pay for about them.

But I think Eugene Jim Anderson you get to question now what is your plan for addressing deficit and debt. While keeping taxes low enough to allow for economic growth well. Advocate for the word tax about 27 times in this question. It starts to top it starts reducing. The size of government. Beginning with overhauling the tax system with a fair tax. It's the best way to generate revenue for limited government. And as of yesterday. Congressman John -- has decided to use support my campaign. Here in the fourth district as the champion of the fair tax. Ladies and gentlemen. A lot of problems created by government most of them. -- because of the tax code seven million words. Ten billion hours a year for almost out corporate taxes and individual taxes. It has to. The government has to be pared back the tax system has to be overhauled. You'll see more jobs created. And people to feel if this is done. We have to enforce the State's rights. Where the states take care of their own states we have to eliminate the earmarking system completely which is one of the big problems we have. But bottom line right at the top. Overhaul the tax system reduce the size of government program by program. If those programs. Those federal programs now if they're not constitutional. Then. Eliminate the that's the bottom lines -- Social Security. Medicare they need to become solvent. And we need to give individuals like myself I would opt out of the system right now if I could and I would take that money invested somewhere somewhere else and make much. More money we need to have people who were younger. -- into a private program those tours on Social Security now that's -- keep that those were approaching. If they -- ought to have Social Security that's fine but we need to come up with a different system.

When cart she's retired when you get to question what your plan for addressing deficit and debt. While keeping taxes low enough to allow for economic growth -- the first thing you know we -- balanced budget amendment much like the health care bill at least be repealed. We need to get control over government or ever increasing the size of government spending habits. Who -- way to get started immediately is a balanced budget amendment which will start but your house in order. -- fairly very very strongly believe in the fair tax signed on the fair tax issue here back in early October. The protects is nothing more than the consumption tax it is a way to start getting our house in order once again and all so. We need to realize today 41 cents of every dollar his borrow. It's staggering. Staggering statistic. 41 cents. Of every dollar government spends his borrowed money that you and I are gonna get to repay at some point. But more likely my grandchildren. I strongly believe the bush tax cuts they should be continued. They worked well once they can continue to work well force of will. Hang in there and continued that particular programs worked and worked well. The other thing that's very very concerning to me in the fourth district is the state taxes. The agricultural people farmer of that district they're for a one.

Says if you're 55 years or older no impact but if you're my age 46 years old. You're gonna get a little less than the current promise frankly I think you're gonna get a little more than reality but a little less than the false promise that's its third day. And there's a way to go do that Medicare looms large. In. The current Obama -- 25% of all Kansas will be on Medicaid. In 36 months the state has no idea how they're gonna pay for that they have to -- competition in our health care system. But take a look at the Department of Education no one can explain to me why we send the federal all the Washington DC since 64 cents back. And then tell people against how to run their school systems it's incomprehensible to me. These are places we can begin. There's lots of other things to talk about. The final we've got to create a system where people invest in America that means lower capital rate -- gains tax rates by at least 50% dividend tax rates as well. And creating incentives for capital to come to Kansas.

the next question -- begin routine showed or congressman gene recently the state of Arizona enacted a controversial new law. Dealing with immigration because the federal government has not enforce current laws. What is your opinion of enforcing federal immigration laws and do you agree with the ever --

Law. Well that is the exact problem and that that questions that the federal government has done nothing for so long. Arizona who was forced to take it take matters into their own hands. 169000. People came over the border. To their state that's the size of a small city and documented notes jobs illegal. Going into the countryside no telling where they were going in many of them came to Kansas. One of the things that we did this year was pass me. A very harsh trafficking and -- And now was where and this is this is the kind of thing that needs to be done. I would hope that businesses would not hire illegal immigrants. Some do. But when people are trafficking. Human lives. They need to be punished and we passed this law that would cities there house their business their track. And and do time in jail. Because it's wrong it's wrong to America. And it's wrong to those people who think that they're going to come here and work and they apparently go and and there is no decent life in America for illegal. Immigrants today. We need to have a secure border I support the National Guard and we need to look at the immigration system because it's broken too.

Jim Anderson you get the question what is your opinion of enforcing federal immigration laws in do you agree with the original law -- question our. -- Did what our federal government and we we should start with a new attorney general strike the top. The the borders need to be enforced we need to enforce -- laws that's one of the problems again. The federal government is failing to do. Let people come across will they don't support the Border Patrol but he gives them the tools. The assets to support. And the authority down on that -- to do their job we need to deal defense that we said we were going to build as a deterrent. You know we might wanna take -- page. The Mexican playbook as well because when people going to their country. They go right to jail and -- turned around and sent home the next day. And and what we do we just let people keep coming in to our country. We have to send a message not only enforce our borders not only enforce laws but we have to send the message. To those people who wanna come here illegally -- there are no more goodies. There's no programs and yet they need to stay in their country they wanna come here fine. Do it legally but they need to force their own governments. To improve their own countries. But I do agree with what. Jan Brewer did and I hope more the states in an area do.

When cart and the question what is your opinion of enforcing federal immigration laws and do you agree with the Arizona law went. Well I totally agree with the Arizona law and the average by governor brewer to substantiate and protect her state. Under her mandate is elected officials -- job. She's doing no more than with the rivers expected to do that state let's not forget everybody refers to is illegal immigration. That your offices that coffee shops and hope you don't sit -- talk about immigration you talk about illegal immigration. And that's exactly what it is -- people coming into the Arizona. They're stealing their health care system. They're stealing their schools. You're still in the world fairer system which was referred to as food stamps are still in their jobs they gonna to hold people anytime in Phoenix there are literally thousands of illegal -- standards according looking for work and I'm serious thousands of pictures of our national government the federal government is now on television with commercials. Saying that we should pay fair wages to. Workers most fairways we can it actually says is that commercial. Legal and illegal immigrants. Your tax dollars are now advertising that we pay illegal immigrants the same as we're paying American workers. So pay attention to what's going on around you because. Arizona is doing nothing more than protecting their borders. The -- that was promised never built the security that our constitution guarantees the people of this country including Arizona. Is being overlooked as if it's a written visible link. Arizona has states' rights the tenth amendment. Kansas has states' -- all states have rights. The governor is doing no more than her job. And -- her people from illegal movement across the border.

Mike Pompeo. What is your opinion of enforcing federal immigration laws and do you agree with the Arizona law.

Do and I'm glad mr. -- early in the campaign talked about not wanting to build more -- down there so I'm glad you. I'm glad you've come to see this the way that I do. Look I we will talk about border security you've heard elect officials talk about border security an awfully lot. I bring a special experience to that I spent three years in my life patrolling the east German and Czech border. A 180 kilometers -- with the Communist -- consider -- process. We knew everything that moved along that boundary. And so when I hear politicians say hey it's a big long order. It's really tough it's gonna be hard. It's a big long border. And be really tough going to be hard but we can do but I know I've done it. And and we've got to do it there are deep national security implications of not knowing who's coming in and out of our country. And it's not just the southern border we have -- of industrial. Product communion along we've got Denver International Airport. We've got to know who's coming in now. And let me add to that a third of all the folks who are here illegally today. Team here legally they simply overstayed their -- came on authorized way through legal means they decided it liked it here. And we've got to make sure we know -- overstayed their visas while we have radically under enforce -- simple set of rules. The immigration challenges is very quick. We can't provide amnesty we've got to secure border we've got to know who's coming in and out and once we've done that once we can control. Flow of human people in and out of our country who can make good decisions on immigration. Today it is almost impossible to come here and stay legally and very very easy to come here and state illegally. -- called Kansas that's exactly backwards.

All right page freshmen again the question is. Your opinion of enforcing federal immigration laws and do you agree with the Arizona law page.

I believe. The federal government has spam. In securing our borders as part here yeah. Challenged means. Activity. Area. -- Physical plan. That we have to troll. Here liberated it's an insurmountable challenge. And solutions. The government and as far as the lines that are on the books currently. Uses -- he -- to -- Examined. Trends to make sure that they're being forced and he he increased use. And the illegal people people that come in illegally. Should stop. People that commend legally it is. Totally acceptable and our government once again needs to be. Have more awareness and agility in dealing with these issues. As far as fears. Governors and what that state did. In the event that the federal government when it's. Ineffectual and protecting supporters believe they did it with this -- it's. And the federal government should take in larger role. -- Productive and efficient effective. And protecting our nation. It is that very serious. National. Security issues that we do not controller borders and that are fashion misses something it. High priority in my kitchen. As far. What needs to -- then went in congress things.

The next question would be human Jim Anderson again Jim do you favors the repeal of No Child Left Behind. I do. I don't think he has it's another government program. Government mandates. With no funding in the government should be funding that anyway. Again I would start at the top vote that would eliminate the Education Department. The federal government has no. Right to dictate to states and further down to local communities. How they are to educate your children. -- at a local level. In concert with the state perhaps but the federal government should keep their nose at the state and local community business. It's created more problems Steve. -- solutions. And local communities school districts and up. Having to. Fund programs. Dictated by the federal government with their own money and definitely -- that. We cut.

When do you favor repeal of No Child Left Behind it. To be quite directly answered yes. President Bush started No Child Left Behind. It sounds very very each side is telling its words. And I think we can all agree here today that is failed. The Department of Education which -- billions and billions and billions of our tax dollars on very things like this if funded. Or not needed and not required the state of Kansas by the tenth amendment should be in charge of take direction. And be involved in our children's education the local level. I think all of us here understand we do not need some bureaucratic abortion DC decided what class what book what your students learn. In the schools in Wichita in the fourth district. The state of Kansas and local level or the ones that need to decide. What educations are -- you into our kids the family unit -- to be more involved and our children's education. In -- bill through the before district from almost a last year the one thing I find so surprises the increasing number of people. That are doing home schooling. I find that. Very rewarding for them for myself to see how they do that I think it's quite an undertaking but I think it shows you the direction that some people believe our education system is going even here. You're seeing increases the private schools. Christian based schools and home schooling. So we need to take can be more aware locally and do not let the federal government continue to dictate what our children learn.

Mike -- they were the repeal of No Child Left Behind. Actually just said this discussion yesterday -- school board member from harper can. -- analyst -- it was discussing the -- show up behind is relatively small will be the enormous cost. The enormous teach to the -- Burton that it imposed. On schools -- I would certainly certainly paper and repealing that. And this issue. And part about policy institute that spent a lot of time thinking about how we ought to education here in America. And look radically different than what we do today. Today we drive almost all Mara. All of our -- that. Roughly ten to 15% of the money for schools here and more. Come from the federal government about 90%. Of the rules and record that's. That makes cents. As a freshman congressman you could well end up on an education subcommittee. And I and I think to myself what I know about running a school district Republican managers. Or Seattle or even go to Kansas. The federal government. Has no special knowledge in disconnect in ways from different communities want to run schools. We we noticed -- More opportunities. To. School -- about -- we greatest competitive environment. Those schools will be better. We find here what we do and other government institutions -- Very few in your private businesses have -- you promote the guy who's been there too long ago who's been there. You have the difficulties in at least it's not getting the job done like we do an art school district if we change that rules that we allow. Our communities to make decisions about their hiring practices. And rewarding teachers who performing incredibly well. Rewarding them incredibly well our education system in America would be.

Page freshman again the question -- do you favor the repeal of No Child Left Behind.

And no child left and and it's had a good intention to issue. Number one. It lacked appropriate funding to schools. And to implement it correctly. So it can't schools -- just very sad. And too concerned. Too concerned with trying to. That's it and it. And our educational system we need it will grounded and curriculum for students. -- they've seen it now. You know science and technology area. Employers can go overseas and get better educated and lower cost and parties. And what we have here in the United States -- falling fast in the educational. And career as ours the world is concerned it's something that we need. We need to really a program. As the nation. I believe that hour and it is true. States and our communities are the best. And most knowledgeable. In cities to determine lit our students out there to learn that. What did various schools require. It to believe that the federal government does have a responsibility. For. -- Nadine with the states. And providing an overall. Insight into where. We're falling short is our -- and skills four nation. Federal government needs to coordinate -- industry. From the business community to determine. Where. We are falling short -- are. Employable skills. So it is kind of a combination. As far as repealing the I don't know if I would at this point I'd have to take a closer look at it. If it -- eligible I think it had a good intent -- accurately. And.

Yeah sure the question again do you favor the repeal of No Child Left Behind.

Thank you. That is true and No Child Left Behind had a good intent because local school district state school districts. We're not teaching every child. And No Child Left Behind. Forces that that every child must improve and learn certain things. But again the federal government has has instigated all of these regulations. And it makes it impossible. To me and it has cost millions of dollars. We are fortunate here in the state of Kansas that we have -- very very -- State's school district. And our teachers are excellent. Our administrators. Are local controller local school boards take their jobs very seriously. And we have been increasing an -- scores and then that Harry achievement for students. Continuing. For the last ten years or more. I believe that I'm there I am also very concerned about another. Drive for national standards we've already we have already spent all of these millions of dollars. At the state level for these assassins and working with No Child Left Behind and now another group. At the federal level is is trying to push national standards which we would just have to start all over again. So I believe it's a local control issue we have worked. At the state level very closely with the chamber and business groups. Four establishing a qualified workforce. To make sure that young people are able to be employable. Is -- through technical training. Or through higher education. And that this is that with this is a very very important area for the future because of our shortage of young people. I believe that the future is bright for them that we need to make sure that our schools are in preparing them.

Our next question we begin with -- wink Hartman. Week do you support lifting trade and travel restrictions with Cuba. I disagree that. I do not think we should take and they continue. We should continue to do that we should not take and make it possible for a dictatorship. That is so repressive against your people to continue. To do just that. -- those restrictions would do little to benefit us. And would do greatly to help continues -- masters as an -- in Cuba over many many many years.

All right Mike -- same question. Do you support lifting trade and travel restrictions with Cuba.

do not. I am you'll you'll find no more -- stronger free trade advocate that I am at every turn. When I when I watch the jobs go overseas because of bad policy here. Which includes having our agricultural products restricted our aircraft. Components in aircraft that completed product. And not have access to foreign markets. I understand that the role congress has been implicated in the when I get there abrogated rather wanna get there we need to fight for. Free trade open markets everywhere we go this administration has three free trade agreement that it's refusing to sign. There are exceptions however there -- national security exceptions which we've got to consider carefully and I think we've got a longstanding policy -- Cuba think we're on the cusp of victory. There in changing changing out. That government. And I think we gotta keep the current laws we have in place of the so the battle happened and the people of Cuba can have the freedom and liberty that they have so desperately wanted for so long. And we'll have travel and tourism and trade.

All right -- address -- you get to question now do you support lifting trade and travel restrictions with Cuba.

No I denied his lung has they hadn't -- the government that they do in there because repressive to hear. To -- people do not support lifting the trade and travel restrictions that are currently. Benefit.

All right. -- Thank you Steve I am the only ones it believes that this would be a good idea that -- I believe it would help our farmers. Increased selling -- to Cuba and beef production to Cuba and that it would this democracy. I believe that the Cubans have. Relatives. -- in Miami and in Florida will help. -- democracy it is bright for a change of government there is an underground system now bartering. People who want to have actually. Do cats and free enterprise. Under under the tape on my daughter went there she saw this people want to have democracy. And by. Also helping farmers I believe that this would help instantly change of government.

Thank you Anderson you get that would lasted do you support lifting trade and travel restrictions with Cuba. Do not. -- in the stores is kind of close to my heart. Asthma like it's -- and prepared split. Born raised and flip the -- Castro. Dictatorship. And the only thing that's gonna do and I am a hardcore capitalist and free -- But all that's going to be usable version all of those things in usable people like Castro's job. We need to force those people in the country. Two. Bring. Liberty and freedom to their own country and not rely on us to do it is. It's been going on for so many decades now and I believe there close. 22 overthrowing the machine but I do not support. Lifting him --

The next question goes to Mike -- first Mike. What is your opinion of term limits.

I I've been an advocate for term limits since the nineties. I've heard and other than that questions and answers before I think and what other folks will say on that it will will serve very very similar views. So again I ask you to take a look at experience and see who's been out there working hard court and didn't bring. I didn't bring this view through based on a poll that they conducted. Many of you may recall back in the nineties there was a very active national term limits movement an organization called US term limits. And I was out there fighting hard. For term limits and I would do so again for a long ways from that today. The challenge we have. Where is having congressmen who have been there too long is that they become disconnected. Disconnected from the things we know here in Kansas disconnected from constituency there -- to represented. And so while term limits is not a silver bullet and causes -- second order. Second order risks it is absolutely the case that we would be better off if we had elected officials who -- didn't survive -- tenure system to. And went there work hard have the impact they went to Washington DC to have. And they came back to to their constituents and to them to the real world.

Page freshmen what is your opinion of term limits.

I believe it's does that to the American people don't think we should instill -- lines that say that there should be term limits. Well we currently has the latest set to the American people. Two. Take the country. At heart that interest best interest of the country is supposed to their individual states. To a large extent. And whatever. If you have. Someone that has been in there for. Years and years you need to take a good hard look. At what they're doing in the national interest. And pretty much fallen asleep at the US. Are seen continents. And who's in power. To mania and the corruption that is going -- Washington DC. Says people need to be. People who have been in office for a long period of time to leave it there in that case. I think -- degree in new with new ideas. Man to rotate in. People here. So it is my opinion the term limits. It is up to the American people. -- news and pictures that people better but it means there's state in the country. Do any. Ethical. On its job.

He showed -- give us your opinion please of term limits and yes I have great faith in the American people when they make the decisions. Every time -- Election Day but my proposal is twelve and twelfth about yours for the Senate -- twelve years for the house. This way I am and senator Brownback said it would serve two terms which would be twelve years. What twelve years stances there's little anchor. Probably a couple years. At the federal level there's -- services. On learning programs. Help program's impact the state and the federal level and and how -- impact local communities and businesses so there's a learning curve. To be able to really make. Decisions based on what this four. The district but will benefit the district's I believe it to terms and sent. And six terms which would be two years each. For the House of Representatives is. Viable plan that would help people. Learn the system learned the government learn learn how to make and bring good things to the industry but also not be there forever. Because we should be a citizen legislature are instances and congress that's what lessons from that area again. Jim Anderson Europe.

You determine -- please. Yes. Term limits I think can assess just simple. Term limits not too long ago and actually 334 years ago seven out of ten people long term limits nine and ten people want term limits and I think. That that -- can assist -- 90%. For two against. It's it's the concept. Which -- which time has come ladies and gentlemen. I believe it is up to the people to decide how long your reps and senators are gonna stay in office. I'm the only one that is supporting the term limits bill right now going. Making its way to instilling committee. For term limits sponsored by -- over much sentiment. And Brownback. Right now it's going to terms for senate and three terms for. A rent. But whatever it looks like I will support that whatever the people decide it will have to be through constitutional. Amendment as well. And and we do that again folks have to listen closely because when -- Started this year and a half ago people were not talking term limits -- a matter of fact people and its candidates have said that you're not in favor term limits. I've said from the beginning -- favorite term limits because we need to make a change it's now working again again. You know the definition of insanity Albert Einstein says doing media same thing over and over and over again expecting different result and then -- places which. We -- at this time.

When cart and future opinion of term limits pleaser. Well I'm. Quite frankly very energized and excited for the first time. We have people actually giving numbers is that the generalities. Like since September when I announced I've firm had been for term limits. But I'm the only candidates ten months ago we came up with a number not a general I'm for term limits statement. I said from the beginning six years three terms. My energized today is the two other candidates for the first time we've come up with -- actual numbers now generalities. So I have a spouse term limits I believe in term limits I think it is good for the district in this country. And in the first candidate come -- real numbers and say six years to the voters.

Critics question and this will be begin with the page freshman. Candidates love to decry earmarks on the campaign trail but earmarks have helped the citizens of Kansas in the city of Wichita. President -- funding for composites research national institute for aviation training railway overpass projects in downtown even the BTK investigation. What is your position on earmarks page --

Please. Earmarks have been with us and you -- And it is only natural. It. Your representatives. Your senators. -- things that are in the best interest of yours. However. An extreme. We years. Mean your regular. -- earmarks that are detrimental to the rest of the nation. And mrs. Where. Yes and the ethics. And C and national level by the government in Washington needs to take long hard. It's all right to have them earmarks in acts. And at the detriment of other countries or other states in the nation. It is not we need to do everything in moderation. And the well being of the nation. Should be. The prime objective and the candidates that are ruining your. Pictures senators the government ministry mean. United as a nation and not do. Anything. Rest of the nation in jeopardy so well earmarks are visiting. Individual states not and it's not the detriment there's.

You sure your position on earmarked please.

Yes we've had this question before and it I think than it. I have tried to think about what is good for the state what's couldn't for the nation and I asked that very same question. When Wichita got three cars got safer it was -- three schools were destroyed by tornadoes and BT Canadians and com posits and so forth. At the same level. It's a transparent system we go through the budget process we have hearings we have people who Clemens testified for. And testify against we have unified -- areas do that bluntly that and we believe that. South central. Part of the state -- that. What we do in the south central in south central Kansas benefits the entire sting. Because the economic development and the revenue in the jobs that we have. I believe and so that -- were. Aviation and -- clusters in manufacturing here also benefit the nation. So in one way we it needs to be a transparent system going through the budget process with hearings. Two here pros and cons about whether it should be on the -- How Webber's -- I mean that's the system that it should be. Because. Because that's just the way it should -- the way government should be run is as transparent system but today. We've got spending and it's going to be hard we kept -- at the state level. And the federal government has to cut spending to our house I don't know where we will see with our deficits going to increase. We'll have runaway inflation we've got to get that under control.

Jim Anderson please what is your position on earmarks. No I've been against them from day one. -- money sent to Washington we have to -- to get it back. All the earmarks news lobbyists convince the ticker money lobbyists convince. The reps and senators on the hill. To throwing an earmark those people in return get that money and that but it fortunately epic campaign coffers. It's corrupt. From the top down -- out. Let the let the a free market. Rule. Overhaul the tax system. And you'll pretty much eliminate. Most. Of the market if not all as a matter fact that would support legislation. That would -- here marking its it's nothing but away to. Spend our money and fealty bank council. Politicians.

When cart and your opinion your position on your march -- as I've stated from the beginning and I am totally against earmarks. Your -- Way of taking our money to the federal government dispenses they see fit for we have no control or no benefit hugely from that. Everybody thinks -- marketed if it's in your front yard and make sure regressed are great it's a good earmark. Let's go to Alaska and build a bridge to nowhere for hundreds of millions of dollars in Vegas like once -- intelligent. We need to consider the earmarks -- nothing more than continual government spending. Which is borrowed money. Which is money we do not have. That we and our grandchildren get to pay back an ever -- right thirteen trillion dollar for the debt here -- is just another small part of continued to build. Bigger and bigger debt. What we need is more free enterprise less government regulation. And more competition. But bringing home the bacon to local district is another way politicians feed their pockets. And get contributions from their campaigns for big lobbyists abortions and his special interest groups. This past -- stopped is not benefit you and me. Mike pump failure to the end the question what is your position on earmarks --

I'm against them -- the predicate of your question often quoted as those are good for Kansas you talked about safe rooms. If -- from me access I think weekends for fun and we don't need to go out there from a congressman Washington DC that. Mark processes prompting him. Very troubling thoughts that I opposed it from the beginning. I want to commend it to address -- that mr. Hartman says. He is that this a couple debates and he's talking about me. Although he did not mention me by name he talked about money from lobbyist and acts like any any huge -- Washington in the Wichita eagle where -- Took great claimed the fact we had taken any pac money. But implied through that that he had tried to get you pac money that's not true. He he tried diligently yet when it comes on the same place that I have received. I'm very proud of the folks that are supporting. Four times as many Kansas has contributed to my campaign is the combined group standing here for you today. These are people who understand the needs and wants challenges here in the -- district of Kansas their we're proud of what what I've done and who's around. Everyone's talked about the importance of the aircraft manufacturing. Industry to our district I lived that for -- and half years our current conflict came out of that world to. And for that reason I've got lots of small business owners or in that industry who have supported my team they call them wingman for Pompeo. And I've received endorsement from -- process up. From Learjet -- And from each of the large aircraft manufacturing companies that are leaders understand it is very difficult to create jobs weekends. And they recognized leader who can build -- team. -- do that. So don't when when someone runs a commercial and says gosh this -- has taken all that pac money represents less than 3%. All the contributions -- received today. And indeed though the largest -- that I've received help from as -- called the Club for Growth. Does this nation's leading. Free market small government institutions. They know that I'll go to Washington DC and shrink government and that's why they chose my candidacy. -- folks are sitting here.

Like this one final question and up. NASA with the fact that. I think we all police you're well intentioned people your heart's in the right place. You sealock the throng in Washington DC -- wanna fix. Final question is what is right with -- America -- York Dario please.

First of all our great state. I love Kansas. And I am so impressed when their small towns. Our farmers -- and our countryside. Are beautiful wide open spaces. I am proud of our state. And we are onto consumers. We were pioneers. We still have that spirit and we never give up. And I believe that that spirit. Can be taken to Washington DC. We need to help people. We can help distance we need to help farmers because we are all part of the world. That we want to raise their children and we want their children to be successful. So I believe that the spirit of America is still alive and well and that's the spirit of Kansas.

Jim Anderson what's right with America. A lot of things for America begins with with the American spirit because liberty. Freedom the determination of the citizens of these individuals. In this country. 22. -- the American dream for themselves but will that determination yet ideas ingenuity. All of those things right with America but -- slipping away. Slowly but surely liberties and freedom for us. It's time to do something about it's time to stand step up to the plate and take our country back so we can continue. To strengthen our liberty our freedoms. In this country and be free to do those things we do and live. The American entry -- carpet what's right -- America.

Well yeah America's the land of the free it truly is the leading. Country. On this slope. We have earned and created this freedom through the constitution that we live by in our way of government. Even though it is slipping somewhat in my opinion. It is still the government of choice were we the people get to vote for elected officials which is once again commend -- August 3. Negroponte Kansas as a small boy -- Kansas values. I learned the Kansas way of doing things common sense. I believe in christianity that I learned to Kansas I believe in the family unit. The importance of the family unit to once again -- to deteriorated which we need to be reminded of once again. And -- ever mindful of the jobs that are created in this district and throughout this country from small business the same small businesses and Tyrone. And you run. This is where we can turn the corners. We can turn the corner shoot christianity the family unit and getting or small businesses back on track and making them helping to create jobs -- economy on. On the good standing again. Mike.

And you'll watch right -- America. You can't do justice to question like in and a couple minutes. And I'll get my shot. It's here in this room this morning. It's in it's in every home and I've been in over the last thirteen months the campaign sources and and I spent their time these days. In in people's homes -- jobs all across Kansas. It's the American spirit that says hate things aren't going right. We we understand that we now that a government that hasn't in the fundamentally wrong direction aren't they back. We've sought in the town halls of tea parties. We see here this morning folks -- to learn about by folks competing to be here next congressman. We have this great blessing in America. And that haven't talked about this I consider myself to live in very privileged life. Pretty ordinary. Middle income family neither my parents went to college but I Europe with the privileges in America. All the blessings that -- west one chance. Lost school. Practiced law for -- got a chance to come to -- swear by my about the grow up. And start to small businesses that that's the America we all know we can get back -- It's the America that will create. Opportunities for my son nick for -- far our grandchildren one -- And if we if we don't take this moment to reassert that. The values we'll have in the comments and -- this America look very different and very much want to go to congress and be part. A -- in the back.

Page Richmond what is so what's right -- America.

America is the greatest country in the world today and it was found. People who had high ideals. Greek means we are not afraid to use -- or not -- Afraid to use. Jim Anderson closing statement pleaser I would like to think. Steve and Gerald in the chamber. For for hosting the event known companies today. Very much appreciate. Ladies and gentlemen. The bottom line is our country's in trouble. Favorite quotes. Conceal losses from outrage. And that is freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. I think that is what's needed more forums and more people do it and so we can get out our our opinions and you can make that decision. That said I'm -- and over four decades. Has learned skill sets -- small business. Through the good the bad the ugly. I have learned how to be a leader I have learned how to make tough decisions. Sometimes on a daily basis which I don't really care to do but that's what it takes a small business you know it is not every day's a golden day not every -- a good day. You have to make tough decisions you have to be willing to take the heat. My name's on the door my company's I know how to do just that I know how to stand up. Many many times I've been told my life I can't do something. Give -- some really good examples I was told. A few years ago complete fool to think I could get in the fine dining restaurant business and develop a political gestures. The my close friends laughed. I'm very proud silly and hopefully you've been there.
