We played some good people were playing good baseball like you said there's been some long days from rain delays. We got out here last night with a game inning like 135. People's that's in BC I think that's where the NBC helped us which -- as it was no big -- it's we've we've done that many times over the years. Bits you know we -- rolled with the flow and our guys have played well we seem to be clicking on all cylinders at the right time.
You know last night at. I know that I mean we've talked about this many times you don't acknowledge the elements you don't acknowledge. Adversarial situations that it was. Awfully late in the one thing that cat has stood out last night. Actually a couple of things it was just a little sloppy your for both teams -- mean they mated here they gave the couple around Jamaica players that gave them runs. Couple your pitchers forty sharp as they typically are. And as much as you try to tune all that stuff out play until 1:30 in the morning has to have a little bit of the fact.
Some of that -- well it does because you know you're geared up for 730 game -- thinking there's going to be 56000. In the in the stands. In you don't play you don't start till 1040 Leo was. And hats off to our crowd we still had two or 3000 here -- we have that many are close to that many it at 1:30 in the morning. So our fans continue to amazes. But that's a big adrenaline for us we hope we had a kind of crowd tomorrow. But the players like you say they've got to learn to deal with whatever. -- set around you can get lucky you can count immediately RG. Which you know what. We heard a lot better situation in Evansville I tip my hat to Evansville. They play what the 1230 game were supposed to and they were hanging around with the rain delay and in. It's a lot different when -- and it -- homer in your office in my case as opposed them hanging out in the dugout and then they finish that game. And I'm not sure what they did during the three errors in between but I think if you go home -- you probably really get flat so. I tip my hat to him. They played a great game they played hard and it's not easy for anybody but it was really tough for heaven's -- I was really impressed with the way they --
And a couple of things that mention the years and and so forth they kept coming back and and in my mind. That's the kind of game that you've lost a few this year that your team has let get away from them and I thought maybe it was significant that that even though it wasn't a thing of beauty all the time that you found a way to win that game. You start getting a little feeling like okay we need to be added on right here we need to keep score we can't get flat and let them stay in the game because they're -- in the game. And you know we were we were getting around here they're -- we were they were they were hanging around. -- and we gave -- a couple runs in and in wild pitch one run home and in Cody last in an effort to get the other guy at the plate through ball away in another run scored. So all of a sudden it's six to five that's like different field and six to three. And then we didn't score on the top of the ninth or excuse me in the bottom of the gates would go to the top of the ninth. And -- it's the first guy. It is a left handed hitter Wallace so we're -- outrage now Cody picks up eighteen home runs yet so that's that's a little bit unnerving. Well he gets him to -- does a double play a great term buy yet Tyler Grimes and walker Davidson can play defense says two out nobody on woman walks -- next guy thank OK here we -- could this get -- more stressful. That he gets Nate Smith the next show two and hits him with a slider. So it's first and second in the next guys seem like it was about a thirty -- AB. But he ends up getting ground ball walker Davidson kind of bubble around just to make sure that we got ever -- in the and we get him out of bang bang play at first base. But those are the game sometimes you lose in in the new reclaiming your head on -- it's an okay. Why do we make this -- there whether we feel this ground ball. Now I think it's coaches reported some things up today which don't make too big -- because you don't wanna talk anybody in. -- mindset because we've been playing really well so I think today it was a great be practice. Let's get to the big question on everyone's mind is Jordon Cooper you're starter tomorrow coming back on three dangerous yes and have an asset alike you know week. Over the years that we really haven't made a secret of how much your excess when people will bring guys back. Wing and they haven't had proper rest. Like you know. Eighteen years ago or what are we had a team through August 200 pitches back to back days. You'll see guys throw on one day rest and make strong hundred pitches and that's just makes my skin crawl. But with three days rest I'm comfortable that it could have been two would have been now. That's why was so antsy about -- in the came in on Tuesday. Because of rain pushes that into Wednesday we would have Cooper mark but with three days' rest you see that the big league level you see especially at the World Series time. And we've done that before we did it Greg Brown in Omaha we will go with a three day rest thing I just don't think you can do it over and over again. But were comfortable doing that -- Jordon Cooper and now he's comfortable with that he's lobbied like two weeks ago -- at that this format. Talk to me if -- through Tuesday we'll get to throw Saturday and that's it. And you just worry about one game at a time yes the answers yes. And I think he feels comfortable with it so from an abuse standpoint I'm totally comfortable that it's fine. But the question is you know he hasn't done. He hasn't thrown on three days' rest so. You know we're senate Jordon Cooper out there you feel good about it because of the kind of year he's haven't in the panic Kris had the kind of make -- he has. And you thank you your mind okay he's going to be fine bit. You're not a 100% sure that he's going to be. Jordan -- we don't know because he hasn't thrown on three days' rest I don't wanna make everybody all panicky right now are just on what's real I think you'll be fine. I think we'll see is a game but he hasn't thrown out.
Three days' rest this year. And to do that there's been some lead up consideration and in the the Dallas Baptist start you're able to get him out before he threw. And by excessive number I don't mean that you ever let guys go excessive number for what's reasonable but but cut it to his -- limited that game and then. To come back on for days and that a 107 and a complete game the other night certainly not have a big stressed number for him the way it was --

He throws somewhat effortless and and it was a 62 game in mean gene or lack of you know we've in the Senate satan it's that it's at 34 run lead you're thinking okay do we get him out of here. To save fifteen pitches because we know wanna bring back Saturday. But -- you know when it's four -- that's right on the borderline of do not do it and there's some guys in the bullpen we believe -- but if you hooking with a three or 44 run lead. And the bullpen blows -- you don't sleep their all offseason. Forget them fighter -- you don't sleep the whole off season so we left him in there. And it took his pitch count up to like 770. It would have been in the ninety's. Because it was still pretty close games who are wanting and headlining get a complete game.
And it seemed to be at a fairly common Phelan you know if you talk to the other teams. That pretty much everybody had that in mind if they got to Saturday they were gonna throw their number one on three days and that's -- as we know that's what Illinois State's gonna do. Core remains almost that the same situation -- a 103804. In seven innings on Tuesday yeah I think that was everybody's mindset. But. And I don't wanted to start throwing rocks at every other team I can't see how many times we play in tournaments in and people won't bring their. First game starter back with two days' rest. So I think three days' rest just clean their bodies -- now like this is -- an absolute no brainer in an uncomfortable and that too. So I don't think there was any team that was of the mindset now we -- more than three days the other question is. Coming back on three days will it automatically in your mind limit how many pitches he can go tomorrow and that's a good question in an -- and satellite -- I think it depends on. On him I think it depends on. On how he's throwing his comfort level we'll check in lot of times you don't have to check to see how they're throwing you see how -- laboring. Well they yeah that is at an inner. Question. And all -- players listen the -- certainly some after an Amber MacArthur. That's. I don't others guys that are getting pro winters mean you go up and down. Our line up in the guys that probably will get the most professional interest as far as potential big leaguers. I think at some point you're gonna look at Johnny cool is that guy that can be a very high rap is draft eligible this year. I think he's still got a lot of maturing to do. He certainly has a frame that's gonna get dig it's gonna get strong these are it shows how hard that -- do -- to prove he's gaining top and -- first base. I think he's a guy that you could look at as it is likely prospect. You look at a guy like Jordan Cooper who's getting a lot of pro attention. I just as a great make up as a great demeanor. Not overpowering but you know every time we talk about command we talk about Jordon Cooper. I think he's got a chance to do you that you look at a guy like Charlie Lowell who -- last night he's 89092. Left handed deceptive. His breaking balls gotten better he's now has appealed for a changeup you can look at him as a kind of prospect Brian land. Too we all were ready to shoot because he's not eligible but I think he struck out by the way. He made the honor roll first semester or excuse me seconds mr. -- the first master -- It would have been nice having him in the bullpen and diseases 68 left -- low nineties could curve ball I mean you gotta look at him as a big time prospect. Over in the pay check his freshman. Right hander I think is he gains confidence in the and is able to repeat his delivery. You can see him as a guy that says gonna get a lot of pro attention. It's not happened that's fool's gold okay he star and now he doesn't feel too much now that's getting better. But as time has gone on we're thank -- and getting back in shape and how's he gonna give his confidence back. So all the settings start on pain free we start on -- fans. I think here's the biggest key I think Charlie in his mind body was gonna come back a lot of times when guys get hurt they check out mentally. And I think okay. Yeah I don't feel any pain. But they start looked in the summer ball or they start looking in next fall and then they're done. But the two things that happened with -- and shape for for sure and what Charlie lol he never checked out mentally I think he thought he was going to be back in the mix. And hit the ground running when we did get him on the mound. And that's hard to do you don't see that you still a lot of times. Guys come back and it's like the big league clubs -- put him in the minor leagues in the struggle just for Peru a week a month and then finally when they get it together they bring them up. So for him to do what he is done for him to give us five innings last night. Is absolutely utopia I mean we we've never could've expected it to be that it.
Now the next question that is. 7374. Pitches last night. Assuming you do get to play at another tournament which we kind of X factors in certainly at least hope for. What's may be the next step how much did you expect from him reasonably as you continue this comeback process.

But if we're gonna have this reputation for taking care guys and doing the right thing 73 pitches it was a perfect time to getting -- just struck out the left hander they were going on the middle Leo order. When he is tried to throw the changeup and bullpen that's what -- start to feel a little bit of that tightness or just a little a little twinge in his at a pitch that is is getting any closer to being able to it to be usable more often.
Yeah I it's fine now and he did throw Som I mean appear by looks like his breaking ball at times but he did throw some change at last night. That was a concern for me going into the Dallas Baptist games start him because this is a team that can really hit. And and I said Gina said okay we're also gonna go -- which you know I can't -- it's all fastball slider. And I don't know hook up. And I'm glad Dallas Baptist it -- that he wasn't challenging -- because they figured up little bit more. But today he's deceptive enough that he has that little short quick arm action from the left side and you can tell 1990s count on it he spotted it still pretty hard to square up and any -- breaking ball working that day to. But now I has added that changeup so he has the whole repertoire now. Not just a matter of going out you don't ever want to get too comfortable when giving all these glowing recommendations are not recommendations that. The pitcher in the wake and I have a few options. And we give up two hits and I think they they got like three or four -- whatever the case may be there was tuneup and game. And that just goes to show you. If the -- talent now we still make it your pitches and you're not worried don't economy elements you can still be real successful. And this isn't it gets a team that can -- this is against the team that can -- anybody.
